구동사 (phrasal verb) 5개를 이용한 대화 (dialog) 2

• Give up(포기하다)
• Look after(돌보다)
• Come across(우연히 마주치다/발견하다)
• Put off(미루다/연기하다)
• Turn out(결국 ~이 되다/나타나다)

이번에는 한글 해석 부분을 가려두었다. 예문 자체가 쉽기도 하지만 한글 크기를 줄여도 한글에 눈이 먼저 가는 것 같아서 개선해보았다.

한글 해석이 보고 싶으면 까만 창 부분을 드레그하면 된다.

 

Give up(포기하다)

 

A: This puzzle is too hard. I give up.

B: Don’t give up so easily. Let’s try again.

 

A: 이 퍼즐은 너무 어려워. 포기해. 

B: 너무 쉽게 포기하지 마. 다시 해보자.

 

A: I don’t think I can do this anymore. I want to give up.

B: Don’t give up on your dreams. Keep trying.

 

A: 이제 더 이상 못 할 것 같아. 포기하고 싶어.

B: 네 꿈을 포기하지 마. 계속 노력해.

 

A: Did you hear that John gave up smoking?

B: Really? That’s great news.

 

A: John이 담배를 끊었다는 거 들었어?

B: 정말? 좋은 소식이네.

 

 

Look after(돌보다)

 

A: Can you look after my cat while I’m away?

B: Sure, no problem.

 

A: 내가 없을 때 내 고양이를 돌봐 줄래?

B: 그럼, 문제 없어.

 

A: Who looks after your younger siblings while you’re at work?

B: My parents usually do.

 

A: 네가 일할 때 네 어린 형제 자매들을 누가 돌보니?

B: 보통 내 부모님이 그러셔.

 

A: I need to start looking after my health.

B: That’s a good idea. Maybe we can start exercising together.

 

A: 나는 내 건강을 돌보기 시작해야 해.

B: 좋은 생각이야. 같이 운동하기 시작할까?

 

Come across(우연히 마주치다/발견하다)

 

A: Guess who I came across on the street today?

B: Who?

A: An old friend from high school.

 

A: 오늘 거리에서 누구를 우연히 만났는지 맞춰봐.

B: 누구?

A: 고등학교 때 친구야.

 

A: I was shopping and I came across this great deal.

B: Oh really? What did you buy?

 

A: 쇼핑하고 있었는데 이 좋은 거래를 우연히 발견했어.

B: 정말? 뭐 샀어?

 

A: Have you ever come across this book before?

B: No, I haven’t. What’s it about?

 

A: 이 책을 전에 본 적 있니?

B: 아니, 없어. 이 책은 무엇에 관한 거야?

 

 

 

 

Put off(미루다/연기하다)

 

A: I always put off doing my homework until the last minute.

B: That’s not a good habit. You should try to do it earlier.

 

A: 나는 항상 숙제를 마지막 순간까지 미루곤 해. 

B: 그건 좋은 습관이 아니야. 좀 더 일찍 해보려고 노력해야 해.

 

A: Did you hear that the meeting has been put off until next week?

B: Yes, I did. That gives us more time to prepare.

 

A: 회의가 다음 주까지 연기됐다는 거 들었어?

B: 응, 들었어. 그러면 준비할 시간이 더 생기겠네.

 

A: Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

B: You’re right. I’ll start working on it now.

 

A: 오늘 할 수 있는 일을 내일로 미루지 마.

B: 맞아. 지금 바로 시작할게.

 

Turn out(결국 ~이 되다/나타나다)

 

A: The party last night was so much fun.

B: Really? It didn’t seem like it would be.

A: Yeah, it turned out to be a lot of fun.

 

A: 어젯밤 파티가 정말 재미있었어

B: 정말? 그렇게 보이진 않았는데.

A: 응, 결국엔 정말 재미있었어.

 

A: Did you hear about the news?

B: What news?

A: It turned out that he was right all along.

 

A: 그 소식 들었어?

B: 어떤 소식?

A: 결국엔 그가 처음부터 옳았더라고.

 

A: How did the cake you made yesterday turn out?

B: It was delicious! Everyone loved it.

 

A: 어제 네가 만든 케이크 어땠어?

B: 정말 맛있었어! 모두들 좋아했어.
